Find the Echo Art Gallery

The control resonant art gallery puzzle is worth solving because it opens a Secret Hideout containing a Health Upgrade Point, documents, and a resource crate. It is an early optional puzzle that rewards careful observation instead of combat skill. Once you know the intended painting order, the solution takes only a few minutes.

The puzzle is inside the Könstig art gallery in the Evacuation Zone, near the middle of the area and beyond the Fast Travel Door. Look for the Echo exhibition, credited to artist Charlie Meecham. The gallery is a small, dimly lit storefront with paintings arranged in four groups around its walls.

Before touching the spotlight controls, inspect the desk near the entrance. A document there provides the essential clue: four works have been sold this month. Their names are Journey, Windows, Thunder, and Tides.

The note does not label the pictures directly. Instead, you must interpret each title by choosing the painting in its matching group. The groups should be solved in sequence as you move around the room, beginning with the paintings to the left of the front desk.

Understand the Spotlight Mechanic

Each display contains three paintings and a nearby control. Pressing that control cycles the spotlight through the three available pictures. Only one painting in each group should remain illuminated when you finish.

The important detail is that the titles follow the gallery’s layout order. Do not search all twelve paintings for four images that vaguely fit the clue. Match Journey to the first group, Windows to the second group, Thunder to the third group, and Tides to the final group.

Use the visual subjects rather than expecting literal labels. Some selections are intuitive, while others are deliberately abstract. The “Windows” painting, for example, does not necessarily show a conventional window; its winding branches and looping shapes are the intended match.

Clue titleGallery groupCorrect positionVisual identifier
JourneyLeft wallMiddleA country path leading beneath a large tree
WindowsFront/far wallLeftTwisting, curling branches in a wooded scene
ThunderRight-side corner groupLeftA lone tree in an open field with split branches
TidesRight wall groupMiddleA fallen tree resting across rippling water

If you lose track of a group, stop and look at the active beam rather than repeatedly pressing every switch. The controls cycle in a predictable loop, so you can always return to the right selection without resetting the entire puzzle.

The paintings can look similar at a glance because trees, branches, and dark landscapes recur throughout the exhibition. Focus on the composition:

  • Journey is the only selection that clearly suggests travel along a route.
  • Windows is identified by its looping, framed-looking branch pattern.
  • Thunder is the isolated tree image rather than a dense forest scene.
  • Tides is the water image with the downed tree and visible ripples.

Control Resonant Art Gallery Puzzle Solution

Start with the display on the left side of the gallery, closest to the front desk. Cycle its spotlight until the middle artwork is lit. This image shows a path or lane bordered by vegetation, with a tree ahead. It represents Journey.

Next, face the front wall of the gallery. Set the spotlight to the first painting from the left. The selected image has curling branches in a forest-like setting. This is the intended answer for Windows.

Continue clockwise to the group at the right-side corner. Illuminate the first picture in that set, again the leftmost choice. It depicts a lone tree standing in an open plain or field. Its sharply divided branches make it the answer for Thunder.

Finally, use the control for the second display along the right wall. Set it to the middle painting. The correct Tides image features a dead or fallen tree lying across water, with its roots exposed and ripples beneath it.

StepWhere to standSpotlight settingPainting title
1Left wall near the entranceMiddleJourney
2Front wallLeftWindows
3Right-side cornerLeftThunder
4Right wallMiddleTides

The full position pattern is therefore:

  1. Middle
  2. Left
  3. Left
  4. Middle

After the fourth correct painting is illuminated, the gallery reacts immediately. You should hear a pronounced sound effect, and the spotlights may flash. A concealed section of wall opens near the back-left portion of the gallery.

If nothing happens, check that you are using the correct groups in room order. The most common mistake is choosing the right painting for a title but applying it to the wrong wall. Another frequent error is mistaking the plain-side tree for a generic landscape instead of the Thunder answer.

There is no need to leave the gallery, reload a checkpoint, or find an additional key item. The desk document and the four spotlight controls are everything needed to complete the puzzle.

Enter the Secret Hideout and Collect Rewards

Walk through the newly opened passage and descend into the hidden area. This is one of the Evacuation Zone’s Secret Hideouts, so take time to inspect the rooms rather than grabbing the first visible item and leaving.

The headline reward is a Health Upgrade Point found in a crate resembling an ice cream container. Health Upgrade Points increase your maximum health, making this puzzle especially valuable if you are preparing for tougher encounters elsewhere in Manhattan.

The hideout also contains documents that add lore and environmental context. These are easy to overlook if you only follow the path to the crate, so search the side spaces and interact with readable items before returning to the gallery.

Your rewards include:

  • One Health Upgrade Point from the special resource crate.
  • Two collectible documents inside the hidden rooms.
  • Access to an optional Secret Hideout in the Evacuation Zone.
  • A useful early maximum-health improvement with no combat requirement.

The gallery puzzle is a good example of how Control Resonant uses small interiors to hide meaningful progression rewards. Many accessible stores contain ordinary containers, but certain locations conceal switches, codes, or environmental riddles. A document, an unusual object placement, or a set of interactable fixtures often signals that a building holds more than basic loot.
